Tip of the Month.

Tip of the Month.

Widening a Groove
If you need to widen a groove and are just using a single fence, always make the second cut by moving the cutter away from the edge of the work, i.e. to the left, and then feed the router against the rotation of the cutter. Now any deflection of the cutter will be into the pre-cut waste area rather than into the edge and face of the work.
More

Small is Beautiful
A powerful and heavy duty router may boast an impressive specification, but when you try and guide it along a delicate piece of edge moulding, then the sheer size and weight makes it very cumbersome to handle. The larger routers are normally reserved for heavier applications, such as cutting worktops, deep channelling and stair trenching, and for situations that require it to be mounted under a router table.
More

Blunt Warning!
Remember that the continual heating up and cooling down from using blunt cutters can eventually affect the temper of the spring steel in the collet and reduce its elasticity. If you find that your collet is starting to need excessive tightening before it will grip, it is time to replace it.

HSS Cutters for Fine Work
HSS router cutters are most suitable for fine and detailed work that requires a very clean and precise finish straight from the cutter. Dovetailing in soft woods and panel raising being good examples.
More

Stop Router Tipping
If you are struggling with the router tipping and a particular cut is critical, clamp a long batten alongside the work to support the router beyond the length of the cut edge. This is a particularly useful tip if you are trying to work on the edge of a very narrow workpiece.

A: 40mm.
More

Q: Which router replaces the OF97E?

A: The Dewalt replacement is DW621K
More

Q: Can the Trend hinge jig be used with the T4, T5, T9, T10 & T11?

A: In theory all can be used, although the T4 & T5 are more suitable as they are lighter to hold when machining the recesses on the door frame.
More

Q: Can I use Trend guide bushes on my B&Q 1250R router?

A: Unfortunatly not, you will need to purchase a sub base which Trend´s Technicians will then drill to suit. The part number is GB/5/S. This part comes complete with line up pins & screws allowing exact concentricity of the guide bush.
More

Q: What are the differences between T10 & T11 Routers?

A: The T10 is designed for the tradesman in a workshop or on site, whereas the T11 is more suitable for router table set-up as the fine height adjuster can be operated from above the table top. The T11 has larger aperture for the very large diameter cutters and you can also purchase a quick release kit for easy removal of the T11 from our PRT table.
