Tip of the Month.

Tip of the Month.

Pin Guide Care
Pin guides have the advantage that they can be used to profile intricate shapes as the pin is so small, but they do generate a lot of frictional heat and may mark or even burn the timber if they are not used with care.
More

No Bottom Cut
Router cutters without any bottom cut facility can only be fed into the work from the side or edge, they will just burn if you try and plunge them into the surface.
More

HSS Cutters for Fine Work
HSS router cutters are most suitable for fine and detailed work that requires a very clean and precise finish straight from the cutter. Dovetailing in soft woods and panel raising being good examples.
More

Blunt Warning!
Remember that the continual heating up and cooling down from using blunt cutters can eventually affect the temper of the spring steel in the collet and reduce its elasticity. If you find that your collet is starting to need excessive tightening before it will grip, it is time to replace it.

Gripping Router Mats
In many situations, the use of a special router mat will provide all the support you need. This has a specially designed rubbery consistency that resists slipping. Just lay it on the bench, drop on your work and away you go. Being so simple and effective, a router mat is a great choice for holding small components, but it maybe less effective on bigger pieces.

A: 40mm.

Q: Can I use Trend guide bushes on my B&Q 1250R router?

A: Unfortunatly not, you will need to purchase a sub base which Trend´s Technicians will then drill to suit. The part number is GB/5/S. This part comes complete with line up pins & screws allowing exact concentricity of the guide bush.

Q: What are the guide rod centres on the Elu MOF96(E) and MOF177(E)?

A: (1) Elu MOF96(E) has 84mm centres with 8mm diameter rods (2) Elu MOF177(E) has 100mm centres with 10mm diameter rods.

Q: Can the Trend hinge jig be used with the T4, T5, T9, T10 & T11?

A: In theory all can be used, although the T4 & T5 are more suitable as they are lighter to hold when machining the recesses on the door frame.
More

Q: What are the differences between T10 & T11 Routers?

A: The T10 is designed for the tradesman in a workshop or on site, whereas the T11 is more suitable for router table set-up as the fine height adjuster can be operated from above the table top. The T11 has larger aperture for the very large diameter cutters and you can also purchase a quick release kit for easy removal of the T11 from our PRT table.
